ABOUT CAT SKIING IN REVELSTOKE
Revelstoke is a small town of 14,000 people in British Columbia situated along the Columbia River. It is located 400 miles east of Vancouver and 250 miles west of Calgary. It receives on average more than 600 inches of snow per year, most of which falls in the months of December and January. However, snowfall here can start as early as October and continue as late as April.
The impressive amount of powder snowfall in the Revelstoke area makes it a major draw for skiers of all skill levels. In particular, cat ski enthusiasts flock to the Great Northern cat skiing lodge located near the tiny town of Trout Lake in one of the most remote areas of British Columbia.
New owners took over the cat ski lodge in 2016 and transformed it into a cat ski haven where emphasis is put on having fun, relaxing, and making the most of this adventurous pastime. The owners do not count the number of runs or verticals each day, nor do they watch the clock, but rather allow cat skiing to take place from sunrise to sunset each day.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT CAT SKIING IN REVELSTOKE
The new owners also pride themselves on running a cat ski lodge that has a laid back atmosphere and is staffed by the friendliest of employees, and purposely limit ski groups to small sizes. They have invested in a total of four snow cats, a Pisten Bully 600, a Pisten Bully 400 Edge, and two Pisten Bully 300s, to take skiers to the summit each day. The snow cats can climb to the summit of Great Northern and Thompson Mountains in the heaviest of snowfall.
In fact, they make sure they have at least one snow cat that can sit up to 14 people running for multi-day cat skiing packages and one 12-passenger snow cat available for single day cat skier guests. Overnight package rates start at around $3,000 for three days and three nights to around $7,000 for seven days and seven nights at the resort.
The lodge has 11 rooms available, eight double rooms and three singles. Each room has a private bathroom, hair dryer, and Wi-Fi. Guests are treated to breakfast at 7:00 in the morning, which consists of eggs, bacon, and oatmeal. Lunch is served on the mountain while snacks and dinner are served in the lodge. The dinner is a gourmet four-course meal.
Traveling to the Revelstoke Great Northern cat skiing lodge may requires some forethought and caution depending on the weather. Skiers are encouraged to drive cars, trucks, or SUVs with all or four-wheel drive or snow tires. They also should check the local road reports for closures or avalanche warnings.
Direct flights into Revelstoke take off from Vancouver courtesy of Pacific Coastal Airlines. These flights are scheduled two to three times per week. Skiers can also fly into the international airports in Vancouver and Calgary and rent a car to drive to Revelstoke.
