The Grand Targhee Resort, the only cat skiing outfit in the state’s entirety, is located in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, and hosts an abundance of light powder snow – at a whopping 500+ inches annually.
This region offers an undeniable powder experience of a lifetime. Its 602 acres of sustainable, untracked light powder is practically inaccessible – except to cat skiers. Intermediate through advanced skiers should expect to attain anywhere from 8 – 11 runs each day, with an average 1,600 feet per run. That’s up to 18,000 vertical feet of open bowls, dells and steep tree pitches – each day!

A BEAUTIFUL SCENE UNLIKE ANYTHING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN
The operation has 2 cats that hold up to 12 people at a time and can book by an individual or the entire cat. Fat Skis or Powder Boards are highly recommended for your trip, and the resort offers rentals for your convenience if you wish to travel light.
Although there are several resorts within a reasonable distance to the region, the Grand Targhee Resort offers year around lodging and activities, and after a long day of tearing up the slopes, it’s quite convenient to just settle in for the night without having to travel any further.
Whether you are flying in from the east or west coast, getting to the Grand Targhee is stress-free. Two major airports are within 84 miles, with the closest being Jackson Hole Airport, at 54 miles from the resort. If you are flying from the east coast out of LaGuardia Airport, expect to touchdown at Jackson Hole Airport just shy of 8 hours, with only one connecting flight.
West Coasters have a bit of an easier trip into the region; for example someone coming out of LAX will enjoy no connecting flights, landing in Jackson Hole in less than 3 hours.
