ABOUT CAT SKIING IN PEMBERTON

Pemberton is a small village of 2,500 people that sits two hours to the north of Vancouver. This small resort town relies on two main industries, logging and tourism, to sustain its economy. Tourism in particular draws in millions of visitors each year who come to Pemberton to enjoy world-class skiing.

Cat skiing is quickly becoming one of the most popular outdoor sports for native Pemberton residents and tourists alike. Given its location in the Lillooet Ranges, the village receives more than 384 inches of fresh powder snow each year. This snow accumulation creates the ideal conditions for backcountry cat skiing.

In fact, cat skiers of all skill levels are welcome on the alpine and subalpine runs. Skiers are paired with experienced and highly trained guides who remain with them during the time they are in the backcountry. All of the guides are Level 2 Avalanche certified and are now or have previously been professional snow patrollers. Skiers also meet with their guides at least twice a day to review safety procedures on the mountain as well as learn how to make smart decision while out on the backcountry runs.
