Skiers have a variety of options for booking lodgings for themselves and their guests. They can reserve accommodations in private homes as well as penthouses and condominiums. Hotel rooms or guest suites that come with a dining area and private bathroom are available too. Most of the rooms in Aspen offer views of the mountain ranges and snow.
The area has more than 100 restaurants to choose from, most of which serve up family-friendly fare. However, skiers in the mood for higher end meals can also find fine dining accommodations in this small county seat. Many hotels offer on-site restaurants as well as room service for guests.
Before traveling into the area, tourists are reminded to be cautious about the weather. This part of the Rockies is famous for its turbulent snowstorms that can close entire highways and thoroughfares. The major highway running through Aspen is frequently closed because of snow and avalanche conditions.
Private and charter jets can land at the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport, which has one runway to accommodate small aircraft. Amtrak offers service into nearby Glenwood Springs which skiers can then take the Roaring Fork Transportation Company buses into Aspen.
